Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking an Embedded Hardware Security Engineer who will support a government contract located in Quantico, VA.
Responsibilities for the Embedded Hardware Security Engineer:
· Security Design & Architecture: Developing security architectures for embedded systems to ensure that hardware and firmware work together to protect against threats like unauthorized access, data breaches, or tampering.
· Cryptography Implementation: Integrating cryptographic protocols such as encryption, hashing, and secure key management into embedded systems, ensuring that sensitive data is protected during storage and transmission.
· Vulnerability Assessment & Mitigation: Identifying potential security vulnerabilities in embedded hardware and firmware and implementing countermeasures, such as secure boot, hardware-based key storage, and physical layer protections.
· Firmware Security: Ensuring that the embedded system firmware is secure from threats like code injection, reverse engineering, and buffer overflows. This includes secure coding practices and reviewing code for vulnerabilities.
· Secure Boot & Hardware Root of Trust: Implementing secure boot mechanisms and hardware-based root of trust to verify that only trusted software can be executed during the startup sequence of the embedded system.
· Penetration Testing & Security Audits: Conducting regular penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security audits to identify weaknesses in both the hardware and firmware components of embedded systems.
· Compliance & Standards: Ensuring the design and implementation of embedded systems meet relevant security standards and regulations such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-53, or Common Criteria for security certifications.
