FTS has an opportunity for a GEOINT Ground Systems Engineer in Springfield, VA.

The GEOINT Ground Systems Engineer will support multiple ground system projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Support Chief Engineer and government staff to execute systems engineering and integration (SE&I) activities across customer site
  • Work with SE&I teams to execute site system engineering process; oversee site processes used to document and manage site baseline to accommodate evolving mission needs
  • Collaborate with System Program Offices (SPO) and other Government Agencies to integrate various GEOINT space missions into a ground-based architecture, ensure the delivering organization understands site integration needs and processes
  • Assist in developing standards, processes and procedures, and operations & maintenance plans; review and evaluate technical documentation (e.g. CONOPS, requirements; issues and risks, etc.)
  • Represent government's interests at various forums; p rovide analysis and recommendations to multiple government customers
  • Serve as liaison between GPOC and internal/external organizational project managers to guide and monitor progress
  • Occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • BS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline
  • 9+ years' relevant experience
  • Expertise in full system engineering life cycle ; from concept, requirements, design & development, to deployment and operational maintenance
  • Experience with project management supporting the delivery, integration and transition of mission systems and/or mission applications
  • Ability to work independently to support multiple government customers and large, complex projects to address organization's needs throughout system development lifecycle
  • Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements without supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal), impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment and comfortable briefing or communicating with senior government managers
  • Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder

Desired Skills/Qualifications

  • Familiar with operation of ground terminal systems and remote receive facilities and infrastructure systems
  • Technical knowledge of space-to-ground communications, terrestrial communications, mission data processing systems, or space vehicle mission planning and command and control systems
  • Real-time operations experience as a SIGINT or GEOINT spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator; familiar with space operations and policies
