Responsibilities of the IT Support Specialist:
McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking an IT Support Specialist to support a Department of Energy (DOE) contract in Albuquerque, NM. This role is vital to ensuring the seamless operations of IT systems, providing expert-level support, and maintaining a high level of technical proficiency to address complex challenges.
The IT Support Specialist will:
- Deliver second-tier support to end-users for a variety of IT systems, including PCs, servers, mainframe applications, and hardware, ensuring quick resolution of escalated issues.
- Handle complex technical issues that exceed the scope of first tier help desk support, leveraging advanced troubleshooting techniques to restore functionality efficiently.
- Work closely with network services, software systems engineering, and application development teams to diagnose and resolve root cause of issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
- Recreate user-reported issues in controlled environments to analyze and identify solutions, ensuring thorough resolution of recurring problems.
- Propose and implement system modifications or improvements to prevent future technical issues and enhance user experience.
- Stay current with advancements in technology and maintain a high level of technical skill and expertise in relevant fields to provide cutting-edge support and solutions.
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or associate's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience in IT support.
- Proven experience providing second-tier IT support in complex environments.
- In-depth knowledge of PC hardware, server, systems, mainframe applications, and IT troubleshooting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with technical teams and end-users effectively.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and customer-focused approach to IT support.
- Active DOE or DOD Security Clearance
