The Battlefield, Command and Control and Maritime Systems (BC2MS) Department in Portsmouth, RI, primarily supports programs in the U.S. Navy's undersea and surface domains including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat systems, and ship architecture/integration.

BC2MS and Advanced Technology (AT) Programs at Raytheon are seeking a senior Systems Engineer with a strong physics and technical background, assisting with data analysis . The candidate must also have strong modeling skills , experience managing small teams and the ability to interface with external customers .

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Physical modeling of acoustic propagation, especially through multiple media

  • Conduct general data analysis to support test events and planning


  • Experience with program management and ability to act as a deputy program manager where needed


  • Lead a small technical team of about 5-8 engineers


  • Interface and collaborate with external customer scientists and engineers


  • Work within program leadership team, including with the program manager, to ensure program success


  • Communicate through oral presentations and written reports on program status, issues and success


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science , Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience . In absence of a degree, 1 2 years of relevant experience is required .

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date , with the a bility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US security clearance . U.S. citizenship is required , as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Value:
  • Past experience in a technical leadership role, e.g. Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, IPT Lead, etc.

  • Experience with Risk and Opportunity Management


  • Experience with undersea vehicles or sonar systems


  • Experience across a wide variety of program lifecycles


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
