Network Engineer

Job Description
This role provides technical expertise in network engineering, administration, and operations. This role maintains enterprise network infrastructure to ensure proper configuration, availability, performance, capacity, and maintenance (including application of the latest patches and upgrades). This role monitors technology obsolescence, manages upgrades, and evaluates alternatives across on-premises and cloud IT infrastructures, both virtual and physical.

This role monitors operations and collects and evaluates metrics to manage network services and for inclusion into project KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLA). This individual performs risk assessment, risk mitigation analysis, vendor trade studies, and appropriate documentation to ensure network services are available according to established Service Level Agreements (SLA). This role ensures continuity of operations including disaster recovery.

Primary Responsibilities
• Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
• Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
• Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
• Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
• Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.
• Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
• Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
• Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
• Coordinating computer network access and use.
• Designing, configuring, and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.
• Demonstrated experience managing systems utilizing Mac Open Directory.
• Demonstrated experience managing and deploying Mac OS 10+ and Windows based workstations.
• Demonstrated understanding of databases, servers, and other system infrastructure, including network switches, routers, workstations, and standalone systems.
• Demonstrated experience working with large userbases, responding to troubleshooting tickets, access control, and responding to other end-user requests.
• Demonstrated experience surveying sites and identifying network and system issues.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting network, server, and stand-alone Apple and Windows based workstation hardware as well as compatibility of applications between Operating system manufacturers and across OS versions.
• Demonstrated experience applying quality assurance and configuration management best practices.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating new hardware or software to provide recommendations for procurement.
• Demonstrated experience recommending process changes to improve efficiency.
• Demonstrated experience ensuring component compatibility.
• Demonstrated experience with system security accreditation.
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience or working knowledge of applying policies and procedures relating to design, upgrade, and operating and maintenance of networks.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and troubleshooting network latency, access, and security issues.
• Demonstrated experience with installation and removal of network hardware and infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience managing license servers used by Adobe and Microsoft Office products, across multi-user networks.
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience with systems integration.

Basic Qualifications
• Candidate must have an active TS/SCI with FS polygraph.
• Candidate must have BS with 12-15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10-13 years of prior relevant experiencing
