The purpose of the US Special Operations Command Lessons Learned Program is to save lives, resources, and time through aggressive global collection, analysis, outreach, and dissemination of relevant U.S. Special Operations Forces observations, insights, and lessons to the Special Operations Forces (SOF) warfighter and Joint Community.
Specific duties include:
Perform high level analysis through quantitative/qualitative research, independent evaluations of operations, exercises, wargames and experimentations to assess the effectiveness of DOTMLPF&P throughout the Command and develop standards for new and/or existing requirements to alter training or operational missions and programs. Coordinate with HGUSSOCOM, JSOC staff, subordinate commands, and TSOC's leadership to provide focus area study recommendations, command synchronization efforts and quarterly feedback finding. Document special project staff roles, responsibilities, organization and processes for best practices and efficiencies that support the Command's Mission and Vision. Perform all CAARD related activities resulting from observations, insights, and lessons learned within JSOC Headquarter. Leverage cross-functional military Services and government agencies analytical studies and LL to recommend adjustments to JSOC processes. Brief and advise senior JSOC leadership on the effectiveness of the LL findings, potential approaches, benefits for capability resolution and implications. Support the preparation and presentation of studies that support command requirements and activities. Employ expert research skills to conduct independent evaluations of the JSOC findings to advise senior JSOC leadership on potential approaches, benefits for capability resolution, and implications to DOTMLPF&P. Leverage cross-functional military Services and government agencies analytical studies and LL to support adjustments to JSOC processes. Compile Before Action Reports, After Action Reports, and Executive Summaries, Post Activity Bulletins and Requests for information. Documentation shall be complete and include substantiated findings and recommendations, consistent with high level of quality control and distribution ready. The documentation shall also be audience-specific and captured at the appropriate security level. Develop and maintain an electronic resource, to include key points of contact, to be used for mission continuity that may be accessed by all stakeholders.

Job Requirements
- BA/BS in International Relations, Strategic Studies, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience, including two years at a specific SOCOM Component or TSOC staff.
- 8 years prior DoD or Interagency experience
- 4 years' experience supporting SOF organizations and/or operations
- 1 year of experience using classified collaborative communication systems
- Ability to prepare and deliver briefings to senior leadership.
- Ability to prepare collection plans and to collect data using direct methods of interviewing and observation.
- Knowledge of SOF Command structure to enable targeted dissemination of observations, insights and lessons for all operations.
- Ability to write detailed portions of studies.
- Knowledge of Joint and SOF Doctrine and TTP's
- Ability to use collaborative communications systems.
