Facility Fire Protection Engineer

Key Role:

Identify fire- related risks, determine ways to reduce the risks, and design ways to safeguard against the wrath of fire. Analyze, formulate, and recommend facility fire protection requirements, design, space criteria, and usage through space utilization studies and forecasts. Recommend systems to mitigate, detect, control, or suppress a fire. Lead analyses and solution development for facility planning and management, ensuring the protection of both people and the built or natural environment from fire hazards. Analyze fire hazards, mitigate fire through the design and construction of buildings, examine building uses and industrial processes, and design, install, and maintain fire detection, suppression, and communication systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a professional environment
  • Knowledge of risks and safeguards that prevent, control, and mitigate the effects of fires
  • Knowledge of structures, mechanical systems, risk control and management, fire dynamics, occupant movement, and environmental protection
  • Knowledge of the International Building Code ( IBC ) , Unified Facilities Criteria ( UFC ) , National Fire Protection Agency ( NFPA ) , American National Standards Institute ( ANSI ) , American Society of Civil Engineers ( ASCE ) , and industry-standard fire protection
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Professional Engineering Certification


Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing ( MEP ) construction drawing sets
  • Knowledge of design engineering of spe cia lized systems, including wet systems, dry systems, pre-action systems, open and closed deluge systems, high-speed deluge systems, ultra-high speed deluge systems, mass notification, heat detection, smoke detection, beam detection, and fire alarms
  • Ability to support facility design services for repair projects or facility operations support
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Te chn ologies ( NICET ) Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
