Description

Clearwaters.IT is seeking several Biomedical Equipment Technician's (BMET) on-site in Bethesda, MD. Sign-on and retention bonuses available.

BMETs must have formal Biomedical Engineering Technology training from a University, Trade School, or military program, with a minimum of 2 years of experience. CBET certification is preferred. An affidavit confirming qualifications will be submitted to the COR before Full Operational date.

Key Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex medical systems, including hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems related to biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits, including X-ray tubes, and equipment like ECGs, defibrillators, and spectrophotometers.
  • Familiarity with regulations such as DoD, DHA, FDA, OSHA, and NFPA.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical data (e.g., schematics, blueprints) and using diagnostic equipment like multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and micrometers.
  • Ability to maintain and repair biomedical equipment in strict compliance with OEM standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with complex electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in using computers and software for data entry and record maintenance.

Candidates must also be able to repair mechanical equipment (e.g., sterilizers, X-ray tables, respirators) and perform precise work with small components, requiring good hand-eye coordination and color vision. All candidates must demonstrate full competency in Biomedical Equipment Technology maintenance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work will be accomplished in various departments of the medical treatment facility or logical extension of the facility (i.e., satellite clinic, health and wellness centers). Work areas may include isolated wards and in contaminated areas where personal protected equipment is required. Candidate shall use appropriate safety procedures and devices as required by the Government.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The nature of the work requires moderate physical effort. The biomedical equipment technician frequently is required to lift, carry or otherwise, handle, items weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds) with occasional encounters involving items greater than 18 kilograms. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping and working in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods is required. In addition to health requirements in the contract, the individual must pass color vision test.

Requirements

  • Certification in Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET) preferred, or a University and/or Military Advanced Biomedical Equipment Repairer Course Certificate of Completion
  • Minimum of two years of biomedical equipment technician experience is required
  • An associate degree or higher in biomedical equipment technology or engineering (preferred)
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain a security clearance
