Job Title: Senior Software Engineering Manager

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Hybrid)

Clearance required: Active Secret Clearance

The Senior Software Engineering Manager oversees the design, development, and delivery of software systems and applications in a dynamic Agile environment. This role leads a team of software engineers, ensuring the successful execution of technical and program objectives while fostering innovation, collaboration, and adherence to best practices. The Senior Software Engineering Manager acts as a bridge between engineering, program leadership, and stakeholders, driving technical excellence and maintaining a strong focus on quality and timely delivery.

What you will do:

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Develop and implement software engineering strategies, plans, and processes aligned with program goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions in compliance with technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Collaborate with program managers, systems engineers, and product owners to define software requirements and priorities.
  • Ensure engineering teams adhere to Agile methodologies, DevSecOps principles, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) best practices.
  • Drive software architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical problem-solving efforts.
  • Monitor and report on team performance, project progress, and technical risks to program leadership.
  • Manage resource allocation and staffing to meet program needs, identifying skill gaps and training opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging software technologies, tools, and practices to ensure competitive advantage.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages professional growth and high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, security requirements, and company policies.
  • Represent the software engineering team in program reviews, customer meetings, and technical discussions.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required; Top Secret/SCI eligibility is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 12 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale software programs in Agile environments.
    • Strong technical background in software development using languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar.
    • Experience with DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and microservices architecture.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skills:

    • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering results.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in software development lifecycle tools such as JIRA, GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent.
    • Deep understanding of software quality assurance practices and performance optimization techniques.
