Toyon Research Corporation is seeking an experienced Network and Systems Administrator passionate about solving problems. Our Systems Administration team is relied upon to empower our users and IT teams with robust reliable solutions, while reducing toil, technical debt, and downtime. Specifically, we are searching for someone with a strong background in network engineering and a vigorous drive to learn and grow their technical knowledge while improving service reliability across the organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and recommending cybersecurity, information assurance, and business resiliency solutions.

The annual pay range for the Network & Systems Administrator position is $110,000 to $145,000.
The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate's education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and recommending cybersecurity, information assurance, and business resiliency solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Stewardship of systems and network infrastructure throughout their operational lifecycle
- Ensure system compliance requirements are met with regard to backups, testing, patches and hardening as defined by NIST 800-171 (DOD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification)
- Expand observability to improve decision making and reduce time to resolution
- Work in tandem with our Service Desk & Site Reliability Engineering to provide performant, reliable, and secure services
- Continual improvement of systems performance, reliability, and compliance to improve capabilities while anticipating and solving customer needs
- Improve and maintain system documentation
- Incident response handling and root cause analysis
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of network and systems administration experience
- Familiarity with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell
- Extensive experience configuring and maintaining Network Switches, Routers, and Firewalls
- Deep understanding of networking concepts and their corresponding applications (e.g. 802.1x, vLANs, Dynamic Routing Algorithms, DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Expertise with Windows Server Operating Systems
- Excellent critical thinking & problem-solving skills
- Experience implementing and tuning observability, monitoring and alerting platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot problems through all layers of the OSI reference model
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem
- Working knowledge of cloud services orchestration and management
- Experience with Linux Server Operating Systems
- Experience with NoSQL and SQL Databases
- Familiarity with containers and container orchestration, Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, etc.
- Familiarity with system automation/configuration management such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt
