1. Process Development and Improvement
- Contributes to the development of cross-functional efforts that embed digital freedom and human rights into the CDP's wider work, including in the Bureau's operational practices and strategic planning processes.
- Support development and institutionalization of new processes, identified and prioritized by CDP leadership, to create a logical, well-socialized system.
- Facilitate and support process improvement efforts to empower CDP employees to improve and enhance bureau operations, including cross-functional policy coordination.
- Identify existing process issues, evaluate policy implementation, and develop SOPs to communicate policies, expectations, and processes to program offices.
- Establish processes for, and maintain, standing working relationships with regional and functional bureaus, embassies overseas, and other USG stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination among the Department's global footprint.
2. Support Technical Capacity Development Among Digital Freedom Unit
- Monitors and analyzes select technical issues under DF's mandate, such as Internet freedom, digital surveillance, privacy, content moderation and regulation, information integrity, and human rights online.
- Provide direct support to CDP/DF's policy team in building policy capacity, visibility and partnerships in the Department, and coordination with diverse stakeholders
- Supports CDP/DF in the development of briefing materials, remarks, and other products for Bureau and Department senior officials, including the Ambassador-at-Large, PDAS, and Coordinator for Digital Freedom.
- Provides technical expertise and analysis on climate and technology issues.
