What You'll Get to Do:
  • Drive Innovation: Develop system specifications, architecture designs, integration plans, and testing protocols to ensure the success of cutting-edge network solutions.
  • Manage Risk: Identify and implement risk management strategies to keep our network secure and resilient.
  • Ensure Quality: Maintain compliance with quality assurance standards and consistently meet or exceed performance metrics.
  • Collaborate & Lead: Review mission-related changes, assess impacts, and provide technical solutions, all while managing and guiding projects through the full lifecycle.
  • Create Solutions: Engineer and implement customer-specific solutions based on change requests and business needs.
  • Be the Expert: Act as the technical lead for assigned projects, offering recommendations and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
  • Requirements Mastery: Elicit and analyze requirements using various techniques such as interviews, surveys, and site visits, and transform them into clear, actionable specifications.
  • Network Optimization: Perform network traffic analysis, recommend improvements, and optimize bandwidth to ensure peak performance.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Evaluate new technologies to enhance network capacity, performance, and reliability, staying aligned with industry best practices and security standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain network architecture diagrams, document system requirements, and communicate technical decisions to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • Experience: 10+ years in network and transport technologies, with 5+ years managing large-scale, enterprise/global networks in fast-paced environments.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph.
  • Skills: Expertise in network design, engineering, and implementation at an advanced level, including the creation of Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) equipment lists and cost estimation for large-scale projects.
  • Tools & Technologies: Proficiency with tools like CISCO, Juniper, and Network Management tools such as SolarWinds and OPNET, as well as deep knowledge of protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Tech Savvy: Experience with CISCO, Juniper routers/switches, cryptographic devices, VPN/IPSEC technologies, and supporting IP services for networks like NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and JWICS.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong writing and communication skills for developing reports and presenting complex technical concepts to senior management.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, managing priorities and driving initiatives with minimal direction.

What's Nice to Have:
  • Education: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Certifications: Cisco CCNP, CCNA, CCVP, or CCDP (or equivalent), ITIL v3 Foundations, ISC2 CISSP, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS or Azure environments would be a plus!

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $125-145k. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.

D2 Consulting provides services to the Federal Government focused in the following three area's We leverage D2 Consulting engineering, operations and governance best practices to efficiently and effectively deploy, maintain and continuously improve IT services and solutions. This includes not only engineering solutions such as VDI and providing direct support to operations but also deploying the tools to instrument and maintain Enterprise performance and availability (including ITSM and Enterprise Management Tools). Protect & Secure: This is our cyber security practice, which includes functions like audit and information assurance, as well as the traditional mechanics of securing IT systems and services. We have experience working with the Government to better manage risk to help move the accreditation process along. This is especially true with respect to adapting accreditation controls to a cloud environment.
