Frequency Manager supporting operations for the AFCENT A6 Forward in Qatar. Responsible for performing frequency management in accordance with Military Communication Electronic Board Publication #7, AFI 17-221.

This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:
  • Provide frequency management support.
  • Process requests for frequencies into the Spectrum 21 (SXXI) database.
  • Plan and obtain frequency allotments in various countries in support of contingency or exercise operations for US Forces.
  • Maintain and manage US frequencies.
  • Review and process frequency allocations to ensure mission requirements still exist.
  • Manage reported cases of electromagnetic interference (EMI) within the AOR.
  • Coordinate with applicable agencies, host nations, and DOD organizations to resolve EMI issues in accordance with Joint Spectrum Interference Resolution (JSIR)/AFI 17-221.
  • Prepare and provide interference reports.
  • Maintain and update continuity book containing: the Joint Restricted Frequency List, unmanned aerial vehicle predator information, AOR frequency processing, special instructions, installation spectrum management orientation information, UHF tactical satellite information and government POC.
  • Contact AOR installation frequency managers in the AOR within 30 days after each AEF rotation, and prepare and provide them with orientation packages.
  • Ensure frequency manager orientation packages contain the SPIN-C and the Frequency Manager Continuity Book.
  • Provide technical advice to the AOR spectrum management community.
  • Travel to support spectrum operations, assist in mitigating EMI or coordinate host nation frequency requirements.
  • Perform frequency management in accordance with Military Communication Electronic Board Publication #7 and AFI 17-221.

Material & Equipment Directly Used:

Computer, telephone, standard office equipment.

Working Environment:
  • Working environment is a climate-controlled facility. Outdoor temperatures may exceed temperatures of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May require support during periods of non-traditional working hours including nights or weekends.

Physical Activities:

Must be able to lift / push / pull 40 lbs. unassisted.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active Secret Tier 3 Security Clearance

Experience / Skills:
  • Experience in performing frequency management IAW Military Communication Electronic Board Publication #7 and other DoD directives.
  • Intermediate-level experience with base level communications systems and deployable communications systems, particularly antennas; management and planning of frequencies, to include frequency allotment, frequency requests, and frequency modifications; management and resolution of EMI; JSIR process; and Spectrum XXI Management Database and Microsoft Office.
