Sr. DevOps Engineer

This individual will play a pivotal role in developing innovative and effective solutions for our DoD customers within the IC sector.

Role Overview

As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines to support a mission-critical defense IT system. You will lead efforts to modernize legacy systems, integrate cutting-edge technologies, and mentor a team of developers to become future solutions architects. Your technical leadership will shape digital solutions and drive mission-forward innovations.

Primary Duties

• Develop and support custom applications in a production environment.
• Design, build, and maintain DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement containerization solutions, including image building and deployment orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Manage tools deployed with Helm using ArgoCD or Flux and write custom Helm charts.
• Utilize automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to enhance operational efficiency.
• Support infrastructure-as-code environments, including automated server and network configurations, software deployments, and monitoring and testing activities.
• Address container networking, monitoring, storage solutions, and security vulnerabilities.
• Evaluate and mitigate container security risks to ensure compliance with best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Experience developing custom applications and supporting them in a production environment.
• 5+ years of experience building and supporting DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• 3+ years of experience with containerization, including Kubernetes deployments.
• 2+ years of experience managing tools deployed with Helm and ArgoCD or Flux, including writing custom Helm charts.
• 2+ years of experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code methodologies for automated server/network configurations and large-scale deployments.
• Knowledge of container networking, monitoring, storage, and security technologies.
• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Desired Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java or Python development.
• Experience with Prometheus/Grafana or ElasticSearch/Kibana and FluentD.
• Experience with cloud design, deployment, and management in AWS or Azure environments.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Git, TeamCity, or similar CI/CD pipeline tools.
• Experience with system integration using JSON, REST, or XML protocols.
• Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby and configuration expertise with JSON, YAML, or XML.
• Knowledge of cloud and virtualization technologies, including Docker, Azure, AWS, or VMware.
• Background in Linux/UNIX administration and automation.
• Understanding of foundational system administration principles.
• Familiarity with classified environment processes and protocols.
• Kubernetes certification is a plus.

Certifications

• Kubernetes certification is highly desired.
