GENERAL JOB

Engineering Technician Services determine the best value resolution for each problem as warranted and provide a recommended course of action, along with viable alternatives, for the Government's consideration. Develop reports documenting problem data, analyses, and recommended solutions including supporting rationale. Interpret engineering data, specifications, drawings, Technical Orders, spreadsheets, and be able to analyze, test, and report on trends, significant patterns, or boundaries as related to electronics, mechanical systems, or building complex electronic systems. Accurately read engineering drawings, architectural plans, and specifications to analyze research, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to complete the task. Perform broad assignments requiring schedule and cost planning, project execution, and reporting. The Engineering Technical Services will be supported by Engineer Technicians (ET2) and Senior Engineer Technicians (ET3).

Essential Primary Job Functions

  • Perform Electronics Testing Support Services. Apply Technical Orders (TO) and ATE self-test programs to systematically identify and repair ATE failures. Perform technical research necessary to define solutions for modernization or replacement of aging or obsolete equipment. Plan, design, and fabricate test equipment to be used in initial testing of electronic systems and equipment.
  • Provide Manufacture and Repair Hybrid Electronics Support Services. Manufacture and repair hybrid microelectronics and perform various semi-automated and manual diagnostic testing on hybrid microcircuits.
  • Provide Technical Advice Support Services. Provide technical advice and guidance to EMXG management as well as Plant Services and Civil Engineering electricians. Assist with design and fabrication of electrical assemblies to be used in electrical power applications for production and administrative systems and equipment.
  • Research Specifications and Electrical Component Requirements. Supplement acquisition activities for modernization, repair, and replacement of aging or obsolete equipment distribution and power systems.
  • Read Schematics, Troubleshoot Electrical Circuits, and Repair Electrical Distribution Circuits .
  • Possess A Working Knowledge of Safety Standards and Requirements. Possess a working knowledge of National Electrical Code and relevant Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) standards for powering industrial and electronic equipment, as well as industry and government electrical safety practices, including OSHA requirements. Interface with, and provide guidance to, safety officials on electrical safety issues.
  • Troubleshoot multi- voltage, multi-frequency electrical distribution systems . Prepare and maintain facility electrical documentation in AutoCAD and prepare design drawings.
  • Determine Design Requirements. Support facility construction projects, provide feedback on design drawings, and provide oversight of electrical construction projects. Possess working knowledge of energy conservation practices.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering Technical Support Services. Perform broad assignments requiring schedule and cost planning, project execution, and reporting. Work in conjunction with government engineers and higher-level technicians in the design of and fabrication of mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform In-depth Technical Analysis Support Services. Resolve issues pertaining to mechanical problems on specified weapons systems.
  • Install And Operate Equipment. Install and operate equipment used in the fabrication of jigs, fixtures, and other mechanical assemblies. Accurately read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings.
  • Collaborate with the Group's Energy Conservation Program. Develop reports and develop and implement conservation programs and provide energy cost saving proposals.
  • Provide Recommendations for Repair of Utility Infrastructure Equipment and Control Systems. Provide energy conservation savings. Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the design, maintenance, and repair of Utility Infrastructure equipment, and controls.


Secondary Primary Job Functions

  • May be required to train other Engineers and government personnel in the proper use, safe design, and improvements required for sustaining the support of Engineering Services.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable security and safety regulations and OSHA standards.

  • Identify potential obsolete parts issues prior to occurrence and provide recommended solutions.
  • Develop reports documenting problem data, analyses, and recommended solutions including supporting rationale.
  • Evaluate and establish production process and controls.
  • Prepare and design drawings and interface with organizations for design, troubleshooting, and repair of infrastructure components.


Education and Experience for Engineering Technician (ET2)

  • Must possess a valid Secret Security Clearance adjudicated in the last five (5) years.
  • Must have a High School Diploma and GED or a Technical School Degree or Certification in a scientific, engineering, or technical field.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a scientific, engineering, or technical field preferably in direct support of electronic engineering activities and functions.
  • Must apply knowledge of standard engineering methods, practices, and techniques used in an electronic environment.
  • Must apply knowledge in the proper disposal of Hazardous Wastes (HW), and experience in transporting HW and toxic waste to appropriate disposal locations.


Education and Experience for Senior Engineering Technician (ET3)

  • Must possess a valid Secret Security Clearance adjudicated in the last five (5) years.
  • Must have a High School Diploma and GED OR a Technical School Degree or Certification in a scientific, engineering, or technical field.
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a scientific, engineering, or technical field of which three (3) years shall be in direct support of electronic engineering activities and functions.
  • Must apply knowledge of standard engineering methods, practices, and techniques used in an electronic environment as well as knowledge of the operation, function, and application of test equipment and instrumentation used for automatic testing of electronic systems and components including associated software.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are representative of those performing essential functions of the job in an industrial production and repair environment and general office setting. Must be able to work sitting or standing. • May be required to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted. Minor cuts and scrapes are to be expected. Possible minor burns or shock from operating electrical equipment and or soldering equipment may be present. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be expected to be worn and used when required. Standard work week generally applies; however, candidate will be expected to work as the requirement dictates.
