This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The General Clerk I will be responsible for:
- Performing a variety of general office duties, including answering phones, managing incoming and outgoing mail, filing, copying, and scanning documents.
- Maintaining organized and up-to-date physical and electronic filing systems for documents and records related to IT operations.
- Assisting with data entry tasks, such as entering information into computer systems and databases with accuracy.
- Preparing and proofreading various documents, including reports, correspondence, and presentations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established formats.
- Coordinating and scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for IT staff as needed.
- Maintaining office supplies inventory and placing orders as required.
- Providing general administrative support to IT personnel, including organizing and distributing materials, coordinating project tasks, and performing other clerical duties as assigned.
- Adhering to office policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably in an IT or technology-related environment.
- Follow clearly detailed specific procedures in completing several repetitive clerical steps performed in a prescribed or slightly varied sequence, such as coding and filing documents in an extensive alphabetical file; could involve simple posting to individual accounts, opening mail, calculating and posting charges to departmental accounts, operating basic office equipment, e.g., photocopier, facsimile, multi-line phone/voicemail systems, mailing machines, and minimal computer programs.
- Use own judgment in choosing the proper procedure for each task.
- Proficiency in using computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling administrative tasks.
- Proficient in using office equipment, such as printers, copiers, and scanners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with basic office procedures and protocols.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Associate's degree or related post-secondary education in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Experience with data entry and familiarity with various computer systems and databases.
- Knowledge of record management practices and procedures.
- Basic understanding of IT terminology and concepts.
- Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in additional software applications, such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Visio, or project management software.
