Grey Matters Defense Solutions is seeking a talented and dedicated Software Engineer

About the job: The Senior Software Developer will play a critical role in software development, DevOps, and system engineering. This position involves developing, maintaining, and deploying microservices-based systems in a containerized environment. The role requires expertise in multiple programming languages, familiarity with various COTS tools, and the ability to integrate with external systems via RESTful APIs and ActiveMQ.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a Software Developer, DevOps Engineer, and System Engineer to support full-cycle development and deployment.
• Design, build, and maintain microservices-based architectures.
• Deploy and migrate applications from Docker-based environments to cloud-hosted Kubernetes clusters.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize RESTful APIs and message/event streaming platforms.
• Implement and manage containerization solutions, including Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes.
• Work within a small, high-performing team to integrate software solutions with multiple databases and external APIs.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Java, Python, and Node.js.
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies:
  
  
  • Docker: Building and running containers.
  • Docker Compose: Defining and managing multi-container applications.
  • Kubernetes: Deploying and managing applications within hosted clusters.
• Database proficiency:
  
  
  • CRUD operations for both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Designing software solutions that interact with various database types.
• RESTful API development and integration.
• Experience with message/event streaming platforms such as ActiveMQ.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with visualization tools like Grafana.
• Experience with databases including GeoServer, InfluxDB, MongoDB, and SQLite.
• Knowledge of additional message/event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience with frameworks:
  
  
  • Spring Boot (Java)
  • NestJS (Node.js)
  • Flask and FastAPI (Python)
• Advanced containerization knowledge:
  
  
  • Helm Charts: Creating and using charts for system deployment.
  • Other tools: Harbor, ArgoCD, Jenkins, Rancher.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $165,000 + 25% SEP (add 25% to your base salary and we will put that into your SEP IRA)
