Acquisition SME plays a critical role in supporting Program Executive Officer (PEO) acquisition planning and execution across portfolio-wide and program-specific activities. This position provides high-level strategic counsel to the PEO, Senior Materiel Leaders, and other stakeholders on acquisition strategy, regulatory compliance, and financial management. Leveraging extensive experience and strategic thinking, the SME ensures successful acquisition milestones and decisions within the PEO's portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Acquisition Planning:
- Support the development and execution of acquisition plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on acquisition strategies, policies, and decision-making processes.
- Assist with acquisition milestones, ensuring all activities meet statutory and policy-driven timelines.
Advisory and Counsel:
- Offer strategic counsel to the PEO and Senior Materiel Leaders on acquisition strategies, regulatory compliance, and financial matters.
- Interpret acquisition laws, policies, and regulations to ensure programs align with current requirements.
- Provide insights into the potential impacts of acquisition decisions on portfolio success.
Program Execution Support:
- Assist in executing program-specific acquisition activities, including contract strategy development and risk management.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of financial, technical, and programmatic considerations.
- Identify and mitigate acquisition-related risks to maintain program schedules and budgets.
Financial Management:
- Provide financial oversight and analysis for acquisition portfolios, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of resources.
- Develop and maintain budgetary and financial plans in support of acquisition objectives.
- Advise on funding strategies to support long-term portfolio goals.
Portfolio Oversight and Decision Support:
- Apply critical and strategic thinking to acquisition milestones and key decisions.
- Review and evaluate acquisition documentation to ensure alignment with PEO objectives and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the development of briefings, reports, and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Education:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Acquisition Management, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certifications in acquisition or financial management preferred (e.g., DAWIA, PMP, or CFA).
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in acquisition planning, financial management, or related fields.
- Proven expertise in DoD acquisition processes, policies, and regulations.
- Experience providing advisory support to senior leaders in government or defense settings.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional knowledge of acquisition strategy and execution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in financial management and budget planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Clearance:
- Current Secret Clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience supporting PEO-level or equivalent acquisition portfolios.
- Strong understanding of DoD funding mechanisms and budget cycles.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive consensus among stakeholders.
