Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the Partner Support Complex – Australia, Canada, United Kingdom Reprogramming Laboratory (ACURL) at Eglin AFB, FL. The 53rd Communications Squadron (53 CSS) provides comprehensive communications and information systems services to the 53rd Wing’s four groups. This includes managing local area networks (LANs), classified and unclassified systems, and advanced programs supporting electronic warfare data and video conferencing capabilities. As part of the 53 CSS, you will help ensure the security and integrity of these critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and maintaining security plans and system security control traceability matrices.
Manage and control system changes, assessing the security impact.
Contribute to assessment and authorization (A&A) activities for assigned systems.
Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of according to security policies.
Verify that users have proper clearances and understand their security responsibilities before granting system access.
Conduct periodic reviews of information systems for compliance with security requirements.
Coordinate with the ISSM and AO/DAO on system hardware, software, or firmware changes.
Monitor system recovery processes to restore security features.
Maintain and review audit records to ensure compliance.
Manage the media creation, destruction, and tracking program, ensuring accountability of classified material.
Oversee the control and accounting of classified assets.
Required Education & Experience:
At least 1 year of relevant experience in information system security, information assurance, or cybersecurity processes.
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of DoD/USAF information security policies and hands-on experience applying RMF (Risk Management Framework) and JSIG (Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide).
Experience contributing to the RMF body of evidence and related control families.
Familiarity with SAP programs, JSIG, and obtaining ATO (Authority to Operate).
Knowledge of AF systems, PC requirements, and governing policies.
Experience with audits related to government information systems security.
Understanding of data leakage protection, COMSEC (Communications Security), EMSEC (Emission Security), and TEMPEST regulations and best practices.
Required Clearance:
Active/valid Secret clearance (investigation within the last 5.5 years).
Willingness to submit for TS/SCI clearance (DCID 6/4 eligibility) and undergo a CI polygraph.
Required Certification:
Active/valid DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II certification (e.g., Security+), with ongoing currency maintenance.
