EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer in our Broadcast and Satellite Services division. This position will lead several engineers and work on systems and applications used for network security. This candidate will recommend, plan and lead projects to implement new solutions as necessary to ensure proper operation, maintain compliance, and ensure that network security best practices are met. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:

Lead network security engineers in the day-to-day workload, audit firewall ticket requests and interact with requestors aiming for accurate information for effective firewall policy implementations
Lead projects for new products and solutions in the network security field focusing on the ones that will provide effective automation
Work with Ansible and/or Terraform scripting languages that will allow effective automation of projects using these tools
Manage the configuration on multiple physical and virtual firewalls across multiple data centers
Propose and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the network security infrastructure
Applies capacity planning configuration changes as demanded by the business
Address performance, scalability and service architecture administration issues
Design, install, configure, and maintain network security services, equipment and devices
Plan and support network security infrastructure
Provide clear technical documentation and written procedures for issues identified and addressed
Monitoring and troubleshooting of platform and OS based problems, network security infrastructure and connectivity issues
Perform launch testing for new software releases and the introduction of new features.
Work in a 24x7 mission critical environment, which includes on-call shifts
Coordinate equipment orders including physical or virtual appliances, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing the systems as needed
Coach and mentor engineers in developing skills and careers in Cybersecurity
Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, telecommunications, cybersecurity or related field
8+ years working in a networking environment
5+ years of experience participating in projects implementing new solutions
5+ years of experience with network security products and protocols
5+ years of experience in Ansible or Terraform, Python, Bash or other scripting languages
Must be a U.S. Person (e.g., U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, U.S. National or a protected individual under 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3)) as position requires access to U.S. export restricted materials.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, telecommunications, cybersecurity or related field
Solid knowledge of computers (laptops, servers, appliances, etc.) hardware and operating systems including Microsoft Windows, MAC OSX and Linux distributions like RedHat, Ubuntu
Solid knowledge of routing and switching technologies. CompTIA Network+ and/or CCNA, Security+ a plus
Understanding of web services and REST APIs
Experience with VMware and virtual security appliances
Previous experience leading colleagues in day-to-day work
Experience working with Cisco ACI
Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects of varying priority
Excellent verbal and written communications
Experience working with authentication services and load balancers
Self-learner and exceptional team player
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Compensation Range $96,000 - $128,000

This position will have access to U.S. export-restricted materials. A successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or able to obtain U.S. authorization from the Dept. of State or the Dept. of Commerce to access such materials.
