Network Installation Technician
Responsibilities
-This technician will support a large federal agency's Network Infrastructure through survey, design, and deployment of structured networks and will be responsible for the upkeep of the security posture of the environment
-This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, Cable Plant and wireless installations that are compliant with commercial, TEMPEST, and NIST standards
-Lead network survey, design and installations under direction of the government
-Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks.
-Perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.
-Knowledge of network topologies and standards
-Topology and rack elevations using Visio
-Create detailed Site Survey reports detailing a site's current infrastructure, NIST and TEMPEST compliance, along with design recommendations
-Configure, install, test, certify, and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling
-Ensure Network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST Standards
-Build and install equipment racks
-Install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms
-Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks
-Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure
-Track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner
-Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements
-Plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (Life-cycle replacements)
-Investigate physical faults in the network
-Report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders
