Join The Red Gate Group as an Intellectual Property Policy Expert - SME supporting the Acquisition Policy & Innovation (API) Directorate under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD(A&S)). In this pivotal role, you will shape innovative strategies and policies that deliver timely capabilities to the Warfighter while safeguarding intellectual property (IP) throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
API leads the charge in advancing acquisition practices for a $2 trillion portfolio of warfighting capabilities, ensuring sustainable policies across critical acquisition pathways. As a part of the API team, you will enable the Department of Defense (DoD) to effectively integrate IP planning, foster innovation, and enhance the resilience of the defense industrial base.
Key Responsibilities
IP Policy Development & Implementation: Craft and implement IP policies and guidance aligned with national security objectives, emphasizing lifecycle management and Modular Open Systems Approaches (MOSA).
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with OSD, DoD components, industry, and academia to advance best practices and foster an informed and robust IP community.
Training & Education: Partner with defense education institutions to develop competency models and training resources, ensuring the workforce is equipped with essential IP knowledge.
Data & Metrics: Analyze IP-related data, trends, and metrics to support informed decision-making and improve IP planning and execution across acquisition programs.
Strategic Communication: Prepare and deliver concise briefings to high-level stakeholders, including Congress, General Officers, and Senior Executive Service members, on IP innovations and policy initiatives.
Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance
7+ years of experience
Master's Degree or higher in related field, equivalent experience/certification
Two years of experience using Microsoft Office
Experience delivering professional briefings to Flag Officers, General Officers, and members of the Senior Executive Service.
Desired Qualifications
Expertise in acquisition and IP policy, with hands-on experience in developing tailored IP strategies for large-scale programs.
A deep understanding of industry practices, including IP valuation, flexible licensing, and interest-based negotiation.
