Position Overview: IT Cabling Specialist
We are currently seeking an IT Cabling Specialist to provide installation, maintenance, and support for critical IT cabling infrastructure. This position involves designing, provisioning, terminating, testing, documenting, and maintaining fiber optic and copper cabling solutions in a variety of environments, including infrastructure backbones, underground pathways, outdoor networks, and desktop connections.
Please Note: Candidates must currently hold an active Full Scope Poly clearance to be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain fiber optic and copper cabling for IT networks.
Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics to ensure accurate cable routing.
Perform field termination of various types of connectors using industry best practices.
Conduct performance testing and troubleshooting for cable installations.
Implement cable management solutions including labeling, rack preparation, and documentation.
Lead teams in executing cabling projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Install cabling in various environments, including under-floor, above-ceiling, and outdoor spaces.
Design and implement cable transmission media, machine rooms, transport closets, and points-of-presence.
Provide recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
Develop and maintain cable run lists, schematics, and project documentation.
Collaborate with government and project stakeholders to meet operational goals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Active Full Scope Poly clearance (mandatory).
10+ years of experience in IT cabling installation, termination, and maintenance.
Expertise in cable termination, testing, rack preparation, and documentation.
BICSI Technician Certification required (or an additional 5 years of experience in lieu of certification).
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
Strong leadership and communication skills to guide teams and collaborate effectively.
