Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.
  • Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 8 years of experience in a dedicated security operations role, with a track record of success in incident response, threat hunting, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with threat intelligence platforms and methodologies, including threat modeling, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automating security tasks and developing custom security tools.
  • Understanding of the cloud security principles and best practices, with experience securing cloud environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform (GCP)).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps principles.

About the job

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) Cyber Defense and Security Operations Group leads our Security Operations function for a range of GPS platforms and services. Combining Mandiant's deep security expertise with Google technologies, our team sets the standard in Security Engineering, Assessment, and Operations across Government Cloud programs.

As a Senior Cyber Security Consultant, you're not just reacting to threats, you're anticipating them. You will be a driving group in our cybersecurity operations, leading the development and implementation of advanced security strategies to protect our critical assets in a dynamic threat landscape.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of security analysts, engineers, and incident responders.
  • Oversee the deployment and operation of security information and event management (SIEM) systems, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security tools.
  • Identify and assess potential threats to the organization's systems and data.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on cybersecurity matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.
