We are seeking a skilled Windows/VMware Server Administrator with an active TS/SCI clearance to provide comprehensive IT and server administration support for SAF/SA. This role includes maintaining and securing all server environments, troubleshooting network and server issues, managing user accounts, and implementing robust backup solutions. The ideal candidate will be experienced in Windows and Linux server management, network monitoring, and will possess the necessary DoD 8570 certification applicable to the position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Server Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance
Provide all IT support for SAF/SA’s server network, including installation, configuration, hardening, patching, backup, auditing, software version updating, monitoring, and troubleshooting for systems such as:
Windows Servers
Domain Name Servers (DNS) and Domain Controllers
DHCP, File Server, SCCM Server, Print Server
Exchange Server
VMware (including VCenter, vSphere, ESXi)
SQL Servers, WSUS, ACAS Server
Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Linux Red Hat Clusters
NetBackup Appliance, Cisco and HP Virtual Connect Switches, Storage Arrays, Brocade SAN Switches
2. Linux Cluster Systems Management
Troubleshoot and implement solutions for performance issues in Linux Cluster systems.
3. Windows Server Management
Monitor and maintain all Windows servers and domains, including user account management (add/remove users, set permissions, group allocation).
Create and maintain user Exchange mailboxes.
Maintain compliance with DISA STIGs, Joint Security Implementation Guide (JSIG), and other security policies.
Conduct SCAP scans quarterly and ACAS scans monthly, mitigating findings as directed by the COR.
Ensure all servers are patched in accordance with the System Security Plan (SSP) and comply with MTOs, TCNOs, and other directives.
4. SQL Server Database Maintenance
Ensure availability and maintenance of user and system databases, performing regular health checks and optimizations.
5. Storage Arrays and Data Protection
Monitor and configure storage arrays daily to prevent data loss and maintain system health
6. Backup Management and Data Integrity
Implement and manage a backup schema that includes weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc backups in line with SAF/SA’s Security Plans (SPs).
Restore data from backups as required by ISO/ISSM and test data integrity of backup procedures on a quarterly basis.
Required Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance (mandatory).
DoD 8570 Certification: Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD 8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) or Windows/VMWare-specific certifications to meet Department of Defense standards.
Technical Skills:
Extensive experience in Windows and Linux server administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware, vSphere, and ESXi.
Proficiency with backup and recovery solutions, such as NetBackup, and experience in managing storage arrays.
Familiarity with network devices such as Cisco and HP Virtual Connect switches, as well as Brocade SAN switches.
Experience with SCCM for software deployment, WSUS for updates, and ACAS for vulnerability management.
Expertise in compliance with DISA STIGs, JSIG guidance, and cybersecurity scanning tools (e.g., SCAP, ACAS).
Knowledge of SQL Server database maintenance and Exchange Server management.
Soft Skills:
Strong organizational and documentation skills for logging changes, backup procedures, and compliance reports.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with government representatives, mission partners, and technical teams.
Ability to work independently in a high-security, mission-critical environment.
