Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a Principal\Sr. Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Controls- Weapons Systems to support the Glide Phase Interceptor Program within the Launch Vehicles business unit in Chandler, Arizona.
The Principal\Sr. Principal GNC Engineer will design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality software and simulation toolchains. The candidate will be working on a 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) simulation and integration with the weapon system. The applicant will be optimizing missile performance when integrated into a combat system. The engineer will need to have knowledge of combat system design and the integration process of deploying a tactical weapon. The desired candidate should have experience in raid analysis and the effects of debris on sensors and discrimination. The engineer will be responsible for developing novel techniques within the combat system to mitigate the impact of raids.

Preferred Qualifications:
Salary Range 2: $114,900 - $172,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Develop combat system integration strategy
- Develop fire control solutions to address raids
- Debug and analyze integration with HPC environments to ensure program success

- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience.
If offered at the Sr. Principal Engineer GNC Level 4 requires:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience.
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
- Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains
- Experience with high fidelity 6DoF simulation for guided missiles
- Experience working with missile guidance and autopilot algorithms
- Travel 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with raids and the effects on IR discrimination
- Previous experience with DOD missile defense programs
- Previous experience with Missile interceptors
- Experience with AEGIS weapon system
