- Position is responsible for a distributed network consisting of a hosted colocation datacenter environment with a multi-homed virtual private network (VPN) that allows remote/home office workers access to the distributed network.
- Provide firsthand support, IT training, and troubleshooting to all remote office staff and on-contract employees for IT matters. Administer and maintain all end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights to the VPN, intranet and hosted solutions.
- Ensures the stable operation of the colocation servers and hosted security solutions, including e-mail, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems; including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware (firewall and switches), software, and communication links.
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of company supplied end user workstations, software and virtual network in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.
- Responsible for integration of user workstations, including MAC workstations, with the company's virtual private network comprised of Microsoft Windows server operating systems and Active Directory.
- Develop, implement and maintain security policies and procedures in according with laws and regulations governing the company's contracts.
- Responsible to configuring and maintaining the disaster recovery solution for all data in the company.
- Regularly confers with users regarding current and prospective system changes and future needs.
- Conduct research on hardware & software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Practice asset and configuration management, including maintenance of server, network and workstation components; keeping an accurate inventory of all company owned assets and technical specification information.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the owners and senior management.
- An Associate's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience with Microsoft Windows server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policies and TCP/IP networking may be substituted for the Associate's degree.
- Holds or is working towards one of the following certifications: Microsoft Certifications (MTA,MCSA,MCSE), A+, Network+, Security+, or Server+ certifications.
- Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience, including Windows 10, Windows /2012/2016 Server, and various Linux variants as well as networking devices such as managed switches and firewalls.
- Able to install, support, and troubleshoot server, network and workstation hardware components and peripherals.
- Demonstrated ability to properly develop and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical staff.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently and without direction to conduct research into current issues and products as required.
