Position Title: Telecommunications Technician Journeyman
Clearance: TS/SCI Mandatory to Apply (Active/Valid)
Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Telecommunications Technician to join our team, providing essential support in maintaining secure, government-level telecommunications systems. As a critical member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all voice, data, and video communications are secure and compliant with stringent Department of Defense (DoD) security protocols. This position requires an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and a current CompTIA Security+ certification to meet our stringent security standards.
You will work alongside other experts in the field to design, install, troubleshoot, and maintain state-of-the-art telecommunications systems, ensuring they are in compliance with government regulations and security policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, install, configure, and maintain secure telecommunications systems for voice, data, and video communications, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex telecom issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services, while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
Conduct regular security inspections and assessments of telecommunications systems and infrastructure, ensuring performance aligns with both technical and security standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network upgrades and security improvements, supporting mission-critical communications.
Maintain accurate documentation for telecommunications systems, including network diagrams, user manuals, and security compliance records.
Provide training and technical support to junior technicians and end-users, with a focus on secure telecommunications practices.
Monitor network performance and security, making recommendations to enhance security controls and mitigate risks.
Stay updated on advancements in telecommunications technology, security protocols, and best practices for handling classified information.
Required Qualifications:
Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to maintain clearance in active/valid status.
CompTIA Security+ (IAT-II) certification; must maintain current certification.
Clearance investigation must be no older than 5 years, 6 months at the time of application.
Must be willing to undergo and pass a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
In-depth understanding of telecommunications technologies and security protocols for classified systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience configuring and managing Cisco switches and other networking devices in secure environments.
Hands-on experience with General Dynamics Type 1 encryption devices (e.g., TACLANE) and secure communications technologies.
Familiarity with audio/video standards (e.g., H.323 / SIP protocols) for secure Video Teleconferencing (VTC) installations.
Experience with Cisco Telepresence Management Suite and VTC system installation in secure government settings.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Work location is at Eglin AFB, FL. Occasional travel may be required to support projects at customer locations, including potential airline travel.
Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers, printers, and other telecommunications devices.
Must be able to work in a secure government environment (SCIF, if applicable) with specific security procedures.
The position may involve standing, sitting, and moderate walking within a secure facility.
Work Environment & Attendance:
This position supports an operational work center, providing 18-hour/day coverage during the work week. Shift work may be required on a rotational or permanent basis, depending on mission needs.
Regular attendance is critical, with the flexibility to adjust to surge situations as necessary.
Must maintain a professional demeanor in all communications, ensuring adherence to security protocols and government standards.
