Job Description
Test Engineer (GCCS experience – can either be a GCCS Operator or a GCCS Systems Admin)
• Supporting testing and validation C4I software systems in the lab. They are primarily testing the GCCS command and control software used on the Navy ships (this GCCS software runs on the CANES platform)
Location: San Diego (works onsite in Point Loma at the GCCS test lab, work schedule is 9 hours per day and every other Friday off)
OVERVIEW
They do testing and certification of the GCCS shipboard systems before the upgraded versions get installed on the Navy ships. GCCS runs on the ISNS or CANES shipboard network platform. The GCCS systems helps the ship navigate.
• The technologies on the ships include both GCCS-M Group Level (GL) 4.1.X.X and GCCS-M Force Level (FL) 4.1.X.X
• Including Waterspace Management (WSM), JEM/JWARN, and WebSked, Command and Control Personal Computer (C2PC) 8.0.X, JADOCS, and TBMCS.
JOB DUTIES:
• Testing of Navy command and control systems, specifically GCCS-M including functionality, interoperability, compliance, and security testing.
• In the lab, set up the GCCS systems, then load those networks (including security updates), and test GCCS for performance and security.
• Document the results and make sure everything passes
• More senior candidates will help identify and correct anomalies associated with the installation, operation, maintenance, and connectivity problems of GCCS (the newer versions of GCCS is dependent more on RedHat Linux so that skill will be nice to have for the senior position)
