The Access Control Officer (ACO) ensures no unauthorized entry into or exit from assigned areas, functions, and facilities.
The ACO controls access of personnel and equipment for the CPB Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs); monitors Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) control and annunciation panels for alarm conditions; and documents security related activities and reports them to responsible parties.

Responsibilities
In accordance with approved SCIF access control Standard Operating Procedures (SOP):
- Conducts face-to-face identification (ID) checks.
- Performs inspections of personnel for unauthorized or prohibited information and/or equipment entering or exiting the facility.
- Conducts entry and exit inspections of equipment, furniture, supplies, book bags, handbags, briefcases and related items to prohibit the introduction of prohibited items, hazardous materials and other non-authorized items.
- Conducts face to face identification checks.
- Monitors IDS and CCTV control and annunciation panels security zone status and alarm conditions; conducts alarm checks.
- Performs escort duties for un-cleared personnel, guests or other personnel.
- Document sand report all inspection findings, SCIF and perimeter alarm conditions to the military police and the CPB Security Manager.
- Places a high priority on quality of services and safety.
Qualifications
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must currently hold and maintain throughout employment an active Top Secret (TS)/Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalency.
- At least two (2) years' experience as an Access Control Officer.
- Experience or training in the protection of personnel, facilities and equipment.
- Experience or training in military orders, such as general and special orders.
- Must be willing to work daytime, evening, or midnight shifts; Part-time positions must also be willing to work weekends, and holidays.
- Must represent the customer and company in a professional manner including dress and appearance that is professional.
- Must be able to pass all training.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug screening.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills for interacting with the customer and the general public.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in tandem.
- Ability to work effectively without constant supervision.
- Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently and to read, understand and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions and training materials.
- Ability, experience and training in constructing and writing clear, concise, accurate and detailed reports.
- Prolonged walking, standing, sitting and stooping, up to twelve (12) hours per day; and occasional running, sprinting, lifting 50 lbs. max, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs.
