Position Title: Senior Telecommunications Technician
Clearance: TS/SCI Mandatory to Apply (Active/Valid)
Position Description:
We are seeking a Senior Telecommunications Technician to join our team, providing advanced support for secure telecommunications systems at a government level. This highly critical role requires an individual with expertise in telecommunications networks, infrastructure, and security protocols, specifically within classified environments. The ideal candidate will hold a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and a current CompTIA Security+ certification to meet our security compliance standards.
In this position, you will design, install, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications systems for voice, data, and video communications, ensuring these systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, install, configure, and maintain secure telecommunications systems, including voice, data, and video communications, adhering to DoD security protocols.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex telecom issues and outages, ensuring minimal disruption to services while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
Conduct regular security assessments and inspections of telecommunications infrastructure to ensure compliance with both technical standards and security requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network upgrades and security improvements on telecommunications systems.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of telecommunications systems, including network diagrams, troubleshooting guides, and security compliance records.
Ensure all telecommunications installations and modifications comply with industry standards and DoD regulations.
Provide training and technical support to junior technicians and end-users, with an emphasis on secure systems and compliance with government regulations.
Monitor network performance and security, providing recommendations for improvements and to mitigate potential security risks.
Stay current with advancements in telecommunications technologies and industry-best practices, specifically as they relate to secure government operations.
Required Qualifications:
Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to maintain clearance in active/valid status.
CompTIA Security+ (IAT-II) certification; must maintain current certification.
Clearance investigation must be no older than 5 years, 6 months at the time of application.
Must be willing to undergo and pass a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications systems and security protocols in a government context.
Preferred Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of networking theory and practical experience applying it to secure environments.
Experience configuring and managing Cisco switches in high-security settings.
Familiarity with General Dynamics Type 1 encryption devices (e.g., TACLANE) and secure communication technologies.
Experience with audio/video standards (e.g., H.323, SIP protocols) for secure Video Teleconferencing (VTC) installations and upgrades.
Proficiency with Cisco Telepresence Management Suite and hands-on experience in VTC system installation and maintenance.
Experience conducting site surveys to assess telecommunications needs for secure system installations and upgrades, both remotely and on-site.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Work location is at Eglin AFB, FL. Occasional travel to customer locations may be required, including airline travel.
The position may involve sitting, standing, and moderate walking within a secure facility.
Ability to operate office equipment (e.g., computer, printer, copier, fax) and lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
Must comply with COVID-19 mitigation measures, as mandated by the DoD and USAF.
Work Environment & Attendance:
This role supports an operational work center providing 18-hour/day coverage during the work week. Shift work may be required on a rotational or permanent basis to meet mission needs.
Regular attendance and flexibility to adjust work hours for surge situations are required to meet deadlines and critical mission requirements.
Must be able to work assigned shifts and exhibit strong organizational and time-management skills.
Punctuality and professional communication are essential for successful collaboration with both customers and team members.
Independent personal transportation to the work site is required, and travel to customer locations may be necessary for certain projects. When operating a vehicle for work, seat belts must be worn and no cellular devices should be used while driving.
