The employee shall provide technical writing to include documenting processes, such as
software manuals or instructional materials. In addition, the employee edits complex
reports and plans to make them more accessible free of unnecessary and confusing jargon,
readily understandable, and presented in a format that supports clearly conveying a complex and
nuanced message. All Technical Writing support will be coordinated with the J5 Chief of Staff
office. The employee provides Technical Writing support to USCYBERCOM IAW CDRL
D002, Technical Report – Study/Services (Reports, Analysis and Command Continuity of
Operations Plan), DI-MISC-80508B. The employee shall:
a) Develop high quality written reports and documents with minimal guidance that is properly formatted following government determined formats.
b) Integrate USCYBERCOM technical writing standards into USCYBERCOM reports following formatting requirements.
c) Monitor and review existing directives, policies, doctrines, strategies and/or instructions from USCYBERCOM and higher echelon headquarters (Joint Staff, Office of Secretary of Defense, National Security Council, Office of the President), as well as the several Military Services and various Agencies, and analyze and make recommendations to ensure timely compliance and/or consideration in deliberate planning, project management, and capability requirements efforts.
d) Collect and organize text, graphs, charts, and/or diagrams for presentation in high-quality reports, briefs, presentations, or web publishing.
e) Assist with identification, cataloging, and tracking information for official records systems, to include maintaining appropriate archival standards.
f) Support the periodic publication and release of information prepared for the Command and public dissemination.
g) Post, edit, distribute, and maintain appropriate content on USCYBERCOM J5-hosted classified and unclassified website/portals; this includes wikis and web pages on the three different domain systems; Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet), and NSA Network (NSANet).
h) Assist, as appropriate, in the maintenance of a vital records and document management program, to include the planning and arrangement for digitization of assigned records.
i) Coordinate and make recommendations to Government leadership on technical writing relevant process changes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness as well as on new product/service offerings to enhance support to the crafting of plans, papers studies and other documents.
