United Support Services, Inc., founded in 2003, is an innovative engineering and technology business headquartered in San Diego, CA. USS is currently seeking individuals to support the TACNET LANT contract as a Computer Engineer IV.
Please note: ALL candidates MUST have a current Security Clearance
Responsibilities:
This role provides continual oversight and technical support to the Fleet's Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services (CANES), with a primary focus on the sustainment and modernization of essential Navy tactical networks. The CRA will support the Tactical Networks (TACNET) Capabilities Based In Service Engineering Agent (CB-ISEA), which is dedicated to sustaining and modernizing systems under the Automated Digital Network System (ADNS), Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services (CANES), Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System Maritime (CENTRIXS-M), Integration Shipboard Networking System (ISNS), Sensitive Compartmented Information Networks (SCI-N), Video Information Exchange System (VIXS), and Wireless Reach Back System (WRBS) under the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC-PAC) PMW160 Programs of Record (POR) systems. This support extends to United States Navy (USN) Fleet users and administrators, maintaining network resilience, cyber readiness, and compatibility across fleet installations and operations.
Technical Requirements:
1. CANES System Management: Proficiency in managing, troubleshooting, and providing comprehensive support for the CANES (Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services) system, including familiarity with Navy tactical network environments and their unique requirements.
2. Advanced Network Engineering Skills: Strong experience in administering and configuring Cisco switches and routers, with a deep understanding of LAN/WAN environments, specifically tailored to Navy shipboard networks.
3. Enterprise-Level Support: Experience in offering high-level network engineering support within an Enterprise LAN Shipboard environment, with capability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex network issues and implement lasting configuration changes as required.
4. Cybersecurity and Compliance: Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity standards with an active DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) and willingness to obtain additional certifications (CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent) within six months.
5. Remote and In-Person Technical Assistance: Ability to provide rapid, dedicated distance support through remote tools (phone, chat, email) and in-person troubleshooting, ensuring reliable and consistent network functionality for US Navy operational needs.
6. Database and Knowledge Management: Understanding of databases and knowledge management tools, including creating, querying, and tailoring reports for CANES-related data and system information.
7. Collaboration and Communication: Proficient in working alongside Active-Duty personnel and government employees, including participating in integrated product teams, attending technical meetings, and presenting findings and recommendations.
8. Systems Familiarity: Familiarity with Navy-specific systems such as ADNS, ISNS, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, WRBS, and associated installed applications, providing an advantage in diagnosing and supporting intra-system issues and CANES integrations.
9. Customer-Oriented Approach: Strong customer service skills with a focus on clear communication, timely response, and proactive problem-solving tailored to Navy operational needs.
10. Availability and Adaptability: Flexibility to work outside standard hours as part of a 24/7 staffing rotation, ensuring immediate CANES support, TNRA access, and lab support when necessary.
Specific Experience:
• Ten (10) years with Masters or 14 years with Bachelor’s degree of experience in computer design, software development or computer networks
• Five (5) years of technical experience in support of TACNET, or other Navy C4I systems. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
Education:
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer
• Cybersecurity Work Force (CSWF) qualified in 9 months
Relevant Certifications:
• Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or (post award) with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification such as: Microsoft role-based certifications, Microsoft Certified Applicable s Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CISCO Certified Design Professional (CCDP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), Cloud certifications, etc.
