Overview
Tecolote Research is actively seeking to fill an available Data Scientist position supporting the Space Force as a member of the Space Systems Command (SSC) Business Intelligence Group.

Tecolote Research is actively seeking to fill an available Data Scientist position supporting the Space Force as a member of the Space Systems Command (SSC) Business Intelligence Group.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts from a diverse cross-section of SSC's business operations (personnel, finance, contracting, acquisition, logistics, etc.)
- Translate business needs into technical requirements
- Iterate with customers in an agile manner to ensure satisfaction
- Develop and maintain data pipelines
- Generate analyses and visualizations for ad hoc data requests
- Build dashboards to provide insights for recurring analytics needs
- Train and deploy models to forecast events (time series) or predict outcomes (machine learning)
- Leverage Large Language Models (LLM) or other Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) capabilities to solve business problems
- Salary range: $70,000 - $85,000/year, DOE
Skills Required
Must Have:
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in analytical roles
- Ability to work on-site in El Segundo a minimum of 2 days per week
- Proficiency with data transformation in Python (Pandas and/or PySpark)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- An eye for effective data visualization and dashboard design
Nice to Have:
- Active Secret clearance
- Experience with Palantir Foundry analytics platform
- Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, SQL
- A working knowledge of the AI landscape (supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, GenAI, prompt engineering, etc.)
- Experience with the use of LLMs in a business setting
- Familiarity with the government acquisition lifecycle
- Advanced degree
- Relevant professional certifications
- Continuing education in Data Science/Analytics/Artificial Intelligence
