Westway Services Group, LLC, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. This role is a pivotal role within the Westway IT department, responsible for managing and overseeing Westway’s IT infrastructure, focusing on classified operations. This role will lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive IT policies and procedures to optimize the technological operations of the organization. This position involves servicing isolated government IT systems, ensuring their security and functionality align with stringent regulatory standards and operational requirements. The ideal candidate must have a TS/SCI clearance with either a CI or FS Polygraph, extensive experience in systems administration, and expertise in tools such as JIRA, Nessus, Splunk, PDQ, WDS, and Tenable.
Responsibilities:
• Manage day to day operations and workload of jr. administrators as assigned.
• Oversee and maintain the organization's isolated IT network, including servers, network configurations, and telecommunications.
• Implement and monitor security protocols to safeguard the organization's data and IT infrastructure. Ensure systems are updated and compliant with industry standards.
• Lead IT projects from conception to execution, including system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments. Manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder communication.
• Provide escalated technical support for complex issues. Train and support IT staff and end-users in best practices and the use of IT equipment and software.
• Regularly evaluate system performance metrics to ensure efficiency and make adjustments as needed.
• In collaboration with operations IT Manager, liaise with vendors and external service providers to secure products and services that meet the company’s technological and budgetary needs.
• Manage and administer the organization's systems infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
• Design, implement, and maintain systems, networks, and software applications in accordance with industry best practices and security standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements, implement solutions, and address system-related issues.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to ensure efficient system administration practices to team members.
• Utilize tools such as Splunk, Nessus, and Tenable to proactively identify and resolve security vulnerabilities, configuration issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain accurate and complete system documentation, including configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct system audits and implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security risks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, working closely with vendors and technical teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to implement and enforce security controls and maintain compliance with regulations.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in systems administration and cybersecurity.
Required Skills:
• Ability to strategically implement cyber security controls using FIPS 199/FIPS 200 and NIST regulations.
• Strong expertise in JIRA, Nessus, Splunk, PDQ, WDS, and Tenable, with a demonstrated ability to
implement and maintain these tools effectively.
• Possession of Security+, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
• In-depth knowledge of systems administration best practices, including server and network
management, virtualization, backup and recovery, and patch management.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automating system administration
tasks.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve
complex system issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with
technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven leadership abilities, including the ability to mentor and lead a team of system administrators.
• Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.
Education:
• Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI security clearance w/Polygraph is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems administration, or 5 years with Bachelors degree.
• Possession of Security+, CASP
Preferred Qualifications:
• CompTIA Server+ or A+
