Job Title: Business Development Manager
Location: Northern Virginia
Reports To: Director of Business Development
Position Overview: The 8(a) Business Development Manager will be responsible for
identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities within the federal marketplace,
specifically targeting contracts set aside for 8(a) certified companies. This role requires a deep
understanding of the 8(a) program, government contracting processes, and the ability to build
and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development:
o Identify and qualify new business opportunities within the federal government
that align with the company's 8(a) certification.
o Develop and implement strategic plans to target specific federal agencies and
programs.
o Track and manage the business development pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up
on leads and opportunities.
2. Proposal Management:
o Lead the preparation and submission of proposals, ensuring compliance with
solicitation requirements.
o Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and develop
compelling proposals.
o Review and edit proposals for clarity, conciseness, and responsiveness.
3. Client Relationship Management:
o Establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers within target
federal agencies.
o Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the
company's capabilities.
o Provide excellent customer service to existing and potential clients.
4. Market Research and Analysis:
o Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential
opportunities within the 8(a) space.
o Analyze government spending patterns and forecast future procurement needs.
5. Compliance and Reporting:
o Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines related to the
8(a) program.
o Prepare regular reports on business development activities, pipeline status, and
contract performance.
,Qualifications:
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing
within the federal contracting space.
o Proven track record of securing federal contracts, particularly within the 8(a)
program.
• Skills:
o Strong understanding of the 8(a) program and government contracting processes.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials
and industry partners.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Proficient in using CRM software and other business development tools.
• Other Requirements:
o Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
o Willingness to travel as needed.
