Tier II Network Technician
Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Polygraph

Tier II Technician to support the customer’s computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.

Description of Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• The Tier 2 network field technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
• Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
• Draft and implement standard network change requests.
• Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), and coordinate and install new equipment).
• Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
• Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
• Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Port Security, and Thin Configurations).

Required Qualifications:
• Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts.
• Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
• Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP).
• Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) models.
• Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS), Juniper JUNOS, and the Brocade and Foundry Operating System (OS).
• Familiarity (doesn’t need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Language Server Protocol (LSP), and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE).
