McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking an Inventory and Safety Specialist who will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the United States Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment.
Responsibilites:
The Underwater Sound Reference Division Transducer Standards Facility is seeking an Inventory and Safety Specialist to streamline and manage various operational and safety tasks within our facility. The following list outlines the specific tasks and general needs we require help with, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
1. Inventory and Organization of Parts, Pieces, Components, etc.
• Objective: To maintain an organized and efficient inventory system throughout the facility.
o Conduct a thorough inventory of all parts, pieces, and components.
o Implement a labeling and categorization system.
o Ensure proper storage and easy accessibility of inventory items.
o Regularly update inventory records and report discrepancies.
o Provide notices of stock shortages to the facility lead.
2. Management of Hazmat Inventory
• Objective: To ensure safe and compliant handling of hazardous materials.
o Track and manage hazmat inventory levels.
o Monitor expiration dates of chemicals and manage timely disposals.
o Provide notices of stock shortages to the facility lead.
o Ensure compliance with NAVSEA safety regulations and guidelines.
3. Management of Industrial/Safety Equipment
• Objective: To maintain and ensure the operational readiness of industrial and safety equipment.
o Perform regular inspections and maintenance of equipment such as vacuum pumps and pressure pumps.
o Keep detailed records of equipment status and maintenance activities.
o Coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
o Ensure that safety equipment is readily available and in good working condition.
4. Creation and Management of Safety Documents/Procedures
• Objective: To develop and maintain comprehensive safety documents and procedures.
o Create detailed safety procedures for various operations within the facility.
o Regularly review and update safety documents to reflect current best practices and regulations.
o Maintain records of safety training and compliance.
5. Management of Calibrated Equipment
• Objective: To ensure all calibrated equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
o Track and log all calibration equipment, including their calibration status and due dates.
o Ensure calibrated equipment is sent to calibration facilities as required.
o Maintain a database of all calibration records and certificates.
o Provide timely reminders and updates on calibration schedules to relevant personnel.
