Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops 'shall' statements and follows those statements through the engineering process. Translates customer needs into testable/verifiable system requirements.
- Works with software and hardware teams to translate shall statements into testable requirements. Utilize DOORS for requirements management, verification traceability, and technical documentation.
- Develops test plans and use cases utilizing existing models or develops own modeling tools (C++, MATLAB).Develops test plans in support of verification & validation for requirements sell-off
- Develop tools to analyze system requirements and assess performance in support of design and development activities.
- Develops, derives, and clarifies system requirements
- Develops and documents technical documentation utilizing DOORS.
- Develops system Architecture and system design documentation.
- Develops system architectures, innovative algorithms, system requirements, and detailed design specifications
- Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations. Conducts trade-studies utilizing existing models, or by developing new models with tools such as C++, Matlab, Python, etc.
- As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Contributes to the technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems to include network analysis, functional allocation, systems requirements reviews, interface standards and system architectures.
- Create and maintain models, utilizing MBSE best practices, to capture system design & architecture and define system functionalities using modeling tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo, etc.
- Contributes to the design and execution of unit, system and operational test and evaluation.
- Analyzes system requirements and supports design and development activities.
- Communicates with stakeholders such as other program personnel, government overseers customers, and senior executives leadership.
- Participate in a highly collaborative team environment, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle using Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline or industrial design.
- Four to eight (4-8) years' experience in a systems engineering-related role.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance.
- Knowledge of requirements tools such as MySQL or DOORS.
- System Architecture and system design documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills, telephone etiquette, and professional demeanor.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective team player with highly proficient customer service skills.
- Advanced level user in Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Visio).
- Flexible and able to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline or industrial design.
- Exposure/experience with Linux operating system
- Experience performing root cause analysis
- Experience using analytical software tools to review and analyze software runtime data (e.g., message validation, sequence validation, etc.)
- Experience creating, peer reviewing, and presenting design review documentation for all stages of the product lifecycle
- Knowledge of MBSE best practices
- Knowledge of modeling languages such as SysML and UML
- Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
- Comfortable navigating software code for basic inspection and review
- Experience and interest working with lab equipment and software.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of Radar/Sensor/Systems operations and procedures
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy Combat Systems.
