Plumber Journeyman

Tinian Island, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, United States

Join our team as a Journeyman Plumber and contribute to various plumbing projects in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. As a Journeyman Plumber, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, ensuring they meet all safety regulations and building codes.

Responsibilities:
• Install, repair, and maintain piping systems for water supply, drainage, waste disposal, and gas (where licensed).
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
• Select appropriate plumbing materials and equipment for each job.
• Cut, thread, bend, and join pipes using various hand and power tools.
• Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, faucets, tubs, and showers.
• Test and troubleshoot plumbing systems to identify and fix leaks, clogs, and other malfunctions.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on plumbing systems to ensure proper functionality and prevent future problems.
• Assist master plumbers with more complex projects as needed.
• Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other workers to coordinate tasks and ensure project completion.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and plumbing codes to ensure safe and compliant work.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications:
• Successful completion of a plumber apprenticeship program or equivalent experience (typically 4-5 years).
• Journeyman plumber license issued by the state regulatory board or national equivalent.
• Strong understanding of plumbing theory, principles, and safety practices.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes and standards (e.g., International Plumbing Code - IPC).
• Proficiency in using various plumbing tools and equipment, including pipe cutters, wrenches, soldering torches, drain snakes, and leak detection equipment.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions regarding plumbing installations and repairs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good physical condition, able to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, working in confined spaces, and prolonged periods using tools.

Work Environment:
• Work environments can vary depending on the project. You may work indoors in residential or commercial buildings, crawl spaces, or attics. Outdoor work can occur for trenching or installing water lines.
• The job can be physically demanding and requires working in potentially awkward positions.
• Travel between different job sites is common.
• Adherence to safety protocols is essential to prevent accidents and injuries.
