Position Overview
C1 Gov is seeking an experienced Lead Wireless Engineer to lead and oversee the wireless network design, integration, and modernization of Base Area Networks for a U.S. Air Force project. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the deployment and sustainment of a secure, high-performance wireless infrastructure that aligns with government standards. This role requires a highly skilled engineer with a background in enterprise wireless network design and implementation, who holds a Secret-level security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Design and Architecture:
- Lead the development and implementation of modernized wireless network designs, including designing, configuring, and troubleshooting wireless infrastructure in line with U.S. Air Force requirements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, System/Subsystem Design Documents (S/SDD), and operational viewpoints.
- Technical Leadership and Project Oversight:
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for all wireless aspects of the project, including coordination with other network and cybersecurity teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Conduct Preliminary Integration Review (PIR) and Critical Integration Review (CIR) with stakeholders, ensuring designs meet operational and security standards.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure wireless infrastructure complies with DoD standards, specifically focusing on Zero Trust Network Authentication Controls and other U.S. Government security protocols.
- Oversee testing, validation, and integration of wireless systems, ensuring adherence to performance, security, and quality objectives.
- Support and Sustainment:
- Provide ongoing technical support and leadership to address network issues, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot complex wireless network problems.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager and cybersecurity teams on incident response, vulnerability management, and network optimization.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in wireless network engineering, with a focus on large-scale enterprise or government projects.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting 802.11 wireless networks, network services, and radio frequency (RF) optimization.
- Certifications:
- Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP) or equivalent.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar certifications preferred.
- CompTIA Security+ certification required.
- Security Clearance: Active Secret-level clearance (Top Secret may be preferred or required based on project requirements).
