Position Description

32. OPTIONAL DUTIES NARRATIVE

This position is located at Naval Air Weapons Center, China Lake, California. The purpose of the position is to serve as a systems administrator of assigned systems maintained/administered by the organization. The incumbent is responsible for the installing, testing, system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining hardware and software. The position will also serve as a member of a team of systems administrators receiving guidance from the team leader. The purpose of this position is to provide technical and analytical guidance and support for system hardware and software.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops, modifies, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems.
  • Serves as a systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting in order to meet customer needs.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends hardware/software changes to various computer systems.
  • Sustain operational networks and many more various test/lab equipment. Consistent operations & maintenance (O&M) on a regularly scheduled basis, maintain technical safeguards on all Information Systems (i.e. PCs, Servers, COMSEC, or test equipment), assist with any or all upgrades and expansions as required to the networks, and troubleshooting/problem resolutions for all computer systems. .
  • Performs security management in accordance with JSIG regulations and state policies.
  • Troubleshoots problems and implements changes on computer platforms.
  • Interacts with peers and vendors to resolve hardware and software problems and reports unresolved problems.
  • Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Responsible for installing, testing and (re)configuring the system security configurations as necessary to comply with any changes to policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
