Basic Position Function:
The incumbent performs routine preventative scheduled maintenance, and emergency repairs of the secure conference facilities installed at US Embassy Beijing. The incumbent will assist with minor electrical installations.
The incumbent will work under the supervision of the security engineering staff of ESC Beijing. The contractor’s work performance will be evaluated by the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of ESC Beijing.
Major Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Bi-weekly: Perform maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting doors and related mechanical and electromechanical devices.
Weekly: Verify proper door operation and perform repairs as needed. Provide a report to OIC/ESC detailing duties performed, problems encountered, and proposed solutions.
Quarterly: Assist security engineering staff with testing the integrity of the secure conference facilities and perform repairs and upgrades as required. Maintain and perform an inventory of consumable stock supplies and advise ESC logistics personnel when additional supplies are needed.
As-needed: troubleshooting problems, utilizing basic test equipment and meters, providing detailed verbal/written report on problems, assisting with new electrical and electromechanical installations. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety practices and regulations. Repairing schematic and low voltage controls
Work Location:
The work will be performed at Embassy Beijing or Guangzhou. Office space and resources will be provided to support this position in the Controlled Access Area (CAA) office suite of the ESC.
Qualifications Required:
Incumbent must be 21 years of age or older, completed journeyman training in either the electrical or electromechanical trade. Must have five years documented experience as a journeyman in an appropriate trade. Incumbent must know how to read electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings. Should be familiar with direct current motors. Incumbent must be able to write clear reports and have a basic knowledge of computers.
Physical Requirements:
The incumbent must be able to perform physical labor and heavy lifting including equipment which may, upon occasion, include items up to 100 lbs. The work requires sufficient dexterity and mobility needed to perform electromechanical maintenance on fairly heavy devices. The incumbent must have a familiarity with basic hand tools and knowledge of and skill using basic electrical testing equipment such as a multi-meter.
