Northstrat has multiple positions for Java Developers. Positions vary but all offer full stack software engineering opportunities split between front-end and back-end depending on your preferences and expertise you can choose to do front-end, back-end, or full stack design and development. On Northstrat projects you will work with amazing teams of talented software engineers to provide strategic Information Technology (IT) solutions. You will solve unique and complex problems at a rapid pace, utilizing the latest technologies to create solutions that are highly scalable. Strong engineers who get excited about diving into new tech stacks, with hands-on experience in React, JavaScript, Java, Python (and more), who thrive working in an agile environment supporting both new application development and sustainment tasks are desired and highly encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates should be comfortable operating in all phases of the application lifecycle. You will work with modern methodologies as part of a diverse dynamic Agile development team throughout the design, development, maintenance, and operations lifecycle.
Have experience using industry proven design patterns and open-source tools, along with a dedication to staying educated on current technology trends is desired.
Demonstrated ability of delivering within a DevOps delivery model using requirements analysis, design, development, test, CI/CD, security implementation, and operational excellence with the ability to work cross-functionally with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and other tech teams.
Job Summary:
In this position you will provide software design and development expertise in support of both new application development tasks and maintenance. Developers are expected to have excellent technical acumen and be highly self-directed and motivated. Developers will be part of an agile team where communication skills and the ability to execute within the established development process are paramount to yours and the team’s success. Developers support the entire product lifecycle to include systems engineering and requirement analysis, technical design, system integration, implementation and deployment.
Required Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree level knowledge in Computer Science or a related major or experience in lieu of degree
• 5+ years relevant experience
• Strong Java skills, preferably including JEE and REST web services
• Experience with Oracle, MySQL, or Postgres
• Understanding of Linux environments
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
• Currently programming with at least one modern language such as Java
• Familiar with Java microservice application and interface design and development
• Have non-internship professional software development experience of 2+ years
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum practices and traditional waterfall projects
• Scheduling algorithm development expertise (experience with Everseer is a plus, though not required).
• Active or current Top-Secret clearance with SCI access (TSSCI)
Desired Skills/Experience:
• Continuous Integration and Automated Testing using tools like Jenkins/Hudson, Selenium, JUnit, etc.
• Java Instrumentation and Performance Monitoring
• NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra
• Understanding of server virtualization using VMWare
• Web development (HTML5, Javascript, Flash, JSP, GWT, or other frameworks)
